Boathouse Development Project
We are absolutely thrilled to confirm that our planning application to carry out essential improvement work to our boathouse has been approved by Rother District Council. We are incredibly grateful to the support we have received.
The next phase is to tender for contractors. Our intention is to commence the project during off-season months to minimise disruption – whilst ensuring we are rescue ready to respond as needed.

Out on shouts
We continue to be tasked to a variety of incidents including locating a 28ft yacht which had broken down and required towing to the nearest safe harbour (Rye). We were also tasked to a group of youths who were suspected of being in difficulty under Fairlight Cliffs.
Appeal for a Finance Manager (Treasurer)
We are looking to recruit a volunteer Finance Manager to join our Operations Management Team. Stella and Kevin have done an amazing job over recent years but need to focus on other activities – although they will remain to provide full support.

Crew news
We supported our friends at Strandliners on their most recent beach clean in May. Their team collect and bag all the rubbish and leave along the Berm, providing a What3Words location. Our volunteers then conduct a relay on the boat to bring the rubbish back to Pett Slip.
We welcomed new recruits Jack Pearson, Rosie Ford, Claire-Marie Mewett and Naomi Hills who are all progressing through their induction. Also delighted to have Nick ‘Nicko’ Bisping back with us.
Nick Wise, senior crew, is embarking on his helm courses – three passed and one to go!
We held our second joint training evening with Rother Responders, taking time to refresh on vital first aid issues, followed by a practical exercise.
Open Day
Our brilliant (if we say so ourselves) Open Day is on Sunday 24 August. We are inviting stallholders to let us know if they are interested in participating. We have limited space, so contact us at plirbrescue@gmail.com if you are interested.
PLIRB Thanks
Our thanks to Lucy and Frank from the Two Sawyers Pub in Pett who donated two Personal Beacons to provide a sophisticated level of safety for our crew – especially when operating in choppy waters or under darkness.
