10 September 2024 - Tasked to reports of a windsurfer in difficulty at Winchelsea Beach

At 13.40 we were tasked to a report of a possible windsurfer in difficulty off Winchelsea Beach. The report had been received by a witness onshore who called it in.

We launched on service and proceeded to the location. HM Coastguard Rye Bay were with the first informer on the shore who provided an estimate location.

Our rescue boat and crew conducted a search of the area. RNLI assets from Rye and Hastings were also deployed. Our crew located an unusual marker buoy but could see no other evidence of a casualty. Coastguard helicopter 163 was in the area and conducted an aerial search.

After nothing further was found, the conclusion was made that the marker buoy was the object the first informer had seen. At which time all units were stood down.

3 September 2024 - Tasked to possible vulnerable person in Hastings

At 09.40 we were tasked to a report of a missing and potentially vulnerable person on the shore in Hastings.

We were launched on service approximately 15 minutes later and proceeded to Rock-a-Nore where we were instructed to commence a parallel search towards Hastings Marina.

Working with HM Coastguard units on shore, a thorough search was conducted. After around an hour of searching, we were informed that the missing person had been located and all teams were stood down.

29 August 2024 - Tasked to a PAN PAN broken down vessel off Pett Level

At 17.03 we were tasked to a PAN PAN call to a 25f foot yacht that had lost drive and required assistance to reach a safe harbour.

In under 20 minutes our volunteer crew had assembled and launched on service. With co-ordinates provided and calm conditions, our rescue boat were on scene with the casualty vessel around 10 minutes after launching.

After conducting a welfare check of the two casualty crew, a secure line was attached to the vessel and our rescue boat towed the yacht to Rye Harbour where she was safely moored.

28 August 2024 - Tasked to missing child at Camber Sands

At 16.11 we were tasked by UK Coastguard to reports of a missing five-year old at Camber Sands.

We launched on service around 20 minutes later and were on scene at Camber shortly after.

We were tasked to conduct a shoreline search from the river mouth at Rye Harbour to Jury’s Gap. After conducting a full length search, they commenced a return search. HM Coastguard units led the on-shore search.

The child was eventually located safe and well – and all units were stood down.

25 August 2024 - Tasked to missing child at Pett Level

During our busy Open Day, we were tasked to look for a child that had been reported missing after becoming separated from the family group.

With a full volunteer crew in the area, we were all available to help – however the child was soon located and we were stood down.

24 August 2024 - Tasked to missing child in the water under Hastings Pier

At 17:20 we were tasked to a report of a child that had been swimming near the pier at Hastings and had become separated from his group.

After quickly assembling at the boathouse we were launched on service around 10 minutes later.

Shortly after launching we received the news that the child had been located and was reunited with his family, at which time we were stood down.

17 August 2024 - Tasked to young person on an inflatable at Hastings

At 17.15 we were tasked by UK Coastguard to reports of a young male on a rubber ring who looked to be floating out to sea.

Our volunteers were at the boathouse within a few minutes to prepare to launch on service.

As the boat was about to launch, we received the news that the young person was back on land and we were stood down.

7 August 2024 - Tasked to a person attempting to enter the water at Rye Harbour

At 10.31 we were tasked by UK Coastguard to reports of a woman attempting to enter the water after her dog at Rye Harbour.

Our volunteers were soon on base and prepared to launch on service. However the woman had been retrieved and was safely back on land. With the news received, we were stood down.

27 July 2024 - Tasked to missing casualty in the water off Hastings

At 8.25pm on we were tasked by UK Coastguard to assist in the search for a person missing in the water approximately 10 miles off Hastings.

Our crew joined RNLI teams from Hastings, Dungeness and Eastbourne in addition to Coastguard air assets.

After a thorough search by all crews and with sea conditions becoming less favourable, all lifeboat crews were stood down.

On return to station, the boat was cleaned down and refuelled ready for service.

15 July 2024 - Tasked to a person in the water at Hastings

At 9.30am we were tasked by UK Coastguard to reports of a young and vulnerable female entering the water at Hastings.

Our crew were at the boathouse within minutes and prepared for launch.

However, the casualty was safely recovered to shore by emergency services and all teams were stood down.

26 June 2024 - Tasked to suspected casualty in the water at St Leonards

At 22.50 we were tasked by UK Coastguard to reports of a female who had entered the water at St Leonards and had not been sighted since entering.

Within 10 minutes a full crew had assembled at the boathouse and prepared to launch.

Shortly after we received a phone call to confirm that the casualty had been located safe and well and we were stood down.

2 June 2024 - Tasked to male casualty in difficulty at Fairlight

At 20:40 we were tasked by UK Coastguard to assist a young male who had found himself lost and in difficulty under the cliffs at Fairlight.

In less than 20 minutes a full volunteer crew had assembled at the boathouse and our rescue boat was launched.

Just a few minutes later the crew spotted the casualty on the beach and navigated the boat close in to the shore. Two crew went ashore to assist the casualty on to the boat.

Once securely on board the casualty was brought safely back to Pett Slip where our beach crew were waiting with blankets, tea and biscuits. We provided essential welfare checks whilst waiting for ambulance team.

1 June 2024 - Tasked to a vulnerable male on the beach at Fairlight

At 2.58am today we were tasked by UK Coastguard to attend an incident involving a vulnerable young male. HM Coastguard Rye Bay and HM Coastguard – Hastings and HM Coastguard- Bexhill were also in attendance.

The casualty was on the beach near Fairlight and, given the location, the only possible option for extraction was by sea.

Our volunteer crew were soon launched and located the casualty within minutes. He was extremely cold and wet, had suffered some minor injuries and was naturally quite distraught.

Our crew brought the casualty back to our base so we could help get him warm and dry whilst waiting for his family and ambulance services to arrive.

12 May 2024 - Tasked to kayaker in difficulty at Hastings

At 16.55 we were tasked by UK Coastguard to attend an incident involving a kayaker at Hastings. The casualty was suspected to be very inebriated and potentially in difficulty.

Our crew were at the boathouse and launched on service in 15 minutes, making their way to the scene.

Before arriving, the kayaker had been able to make their way to shore and we were stood down with no further assistance needed.

11 May 2024 - Tasked to broken down RIB at Rye Harbour

At 16:30 we were tasked by UK Coastguard to a RIB pleasure craft with six persons on board that had suffered engine problems at Rye Bay and was unable to return to the harbour.

Our rescue boat was launched on service within 10 minutes and soon arrived on scene. A secure line was attached to the casualty vessel and our crew towed the boat and passengers safely to a mooring point in Rye Harbour.

A very quick response and efficient recovery of a stricken vessel.

8 May 2024 - Tasked to missing person in St Leonards

At 4.40am we were tasked by UK Coastguard to assist in a search for a missing gentleman believed to be in the water in the St Leonards area.

Another early shout, our fantastic crew were at the boathouse and launched on service in under 20 minutes. Our rescue boat was requested to conduct a parallel search along the coastline – this is a consistent search pattern that allows the crew to carefully search a specific area.

A multi-agency operation involving neighbouring lifeboats, Coastguards and Police. After approximately an hour, the casualty was located and taken in to safe care.

7 May 2024 - Tasked to two persons in difficulty at Camber

At 18.50 we were tasked to attend an incident at Camber Sands involving two persons in difficulty the water. Despite the hazardous low tide conditions, our rescue was launched on service within 20 minutes and on scene shortly after.

It was a sensitive call out which required careful management. Alongside local Coastguard teams, our crew successfully extracted both casualties and returned them safely to shore where other emergency services were waiting to receive them.

25 April 2024 - Tasked to search for missing person 

At 12.40am we were tasked to assist in the search for a 75-year old male who had been reported missing. Despite the late hour, a full crew attended and launched within 20 minutes.

As the exact location of the casualty was not known, we were tasked to conduct a shoreline search between Pett Level and Rock-A-Nore. Our rescue boat with four crew were on scene within minutes.

This was a complex search in darkness involving multiple HM Coastguard teams, along with police, ambulance and Coastguard helicopter. At around 2.30am, search teams located the casualty on the cliffs, thankfully not injured, and were able to safely extract him.

23 April 2024 - Tasked to search for missing person 

At 5.35pm we were tasked by UK Coastguard to assist in the search for a missing vulnerable young person.

Swiftly at the boathouse, we launched in under 15 minutes and the rescue boat proceeded to scene to support other emergency services.

14 April 2024 - Tasked to a broken down fishing level

At 3.42pm we were tasked to a broken down 9metre fishing catamaran with three persons on board in the Rye Bay area.

After a rapid response and launch, our rescue boat quickly located the casualty vessel, placed it under tow and returned the vessel and crew to their mooring in Rye Harbour.

An efficient and expertly managed tasking, testament to our continued training. The boat returned to base and prepared for the next tasking.

7 April 2024 - Tasked to a vulnerable person at Hastings

At 6.10am we were tasked to assist in the search for a vulnerable young adult threatening to enter the water at Hastings.

A full crew were at the boathouse within minutes and the boat prepared for launch. However, as the casualty was safely retrieved by the police, we were stood down.

7 March 2024 - Tasked to Mayday of casualty river cruiser

At 8.00am we were tasked to a Mayday involving a river cruiser in difficulty and running low on fuel off Hastings.

We were launched within 20 minutes and the rescue boat quickly located the boat with two crew who had become disorientated in poor conditions and were anxious due to fuel running low.

Working with Eastbourne RNLI, the vessel was placed under tow and taken safely to Rye Harbour.

5 March 2024 - Tasked to vulnerable person in the water at Hastings

At 12.35pm we were tasked to assist other emergency services in an incident involving a vulnerable female entering the water at Hastings.

A rapid response from the crew, we were prepared to launch in under 15 minutes.

However, the casualty was secured safely by the police and we were stood down.
