Pett Slip Buoys rehearsing
The Buoys rehearse every Monday evening – mostly at the PLIRB boathouse, but sometimes have the opportunity to rehearse on stage at the Rye Creative Centre.
This is a great way for the group to become comfortable with the space and acoustics of a stage – and to practice the PA system!
If you’re passing the our boathouse on a Monday evening (usually around 6.30pm), do stop for a listen and give them some encouragement!
Performing on Pett Level beach
In May 2023 the Buoys received a visit from Meridian to film a short feature for the evening news programme.
Naturally the buoys lined up to give a performance in the glorious sunshine – this was only a few months after they had started singing together!
Pett Slip Buoys performing at PettFest 2024 - our local beer festival
In May 2024 our local pub, the Royal Oak in Pett and the Old Butchers Shop in Pett, hosted a four-day beer festival.
The Pett Slip Buoys were the opening act of the weekend – singing shanties in the warm summer evening to a packed garden crowd!
As you can see – the confidence is really showing strong.. and there are a few characters in the group!
Pett Slip Buoys performing at Icklesham Christmas Fair
The Buoys were invited by Icklesham Memorial Hall to sing at their inaugural Christmas event – as always, the Buoys were delighted to accept!
By now not only is the singing coming along brilliantly well, they are perfecting some skilful choreography!
With lots of support the donation buckets were generously filled – all money raised is going towards our future rescue boat fund.
Pett Slip Buoys performing at Five Villages
The Buoys very first public appearance was at Five Villages in Icklesham.
We were kindly invited by a resident who sold raffle tickets and encouraged everyone to attend – even promoting it in the village!
The Buoys have been back to Five Villages a few times – and hugely appreciative for their continue support.
Pett Slip Buoys first public 'concert'
In September 2023, the Buoys put on their very first public event.
Unsure what reception they would receive, they were blown away that well over 300 people turned up at the PLIRB boathouse to watch them perform.
It was a resounding success and gave the group a huge boost – both that they really do have talent and that singing could become a significant fundraising avenue for PLIRB.
Pett Slip Buoys perming at Rubicol Festival in Mountfield
The Buoys were invited to be part of the village Rubicol Festival on 8 June at the village hall in Mountfield. The festival celebrated the lives of two residents who made a massive contribution to the village – and aimed to raise funds for the village hall.
Our Buoys loved performing on a stage kitted out with a professional audio system – and to be able to spread the word of independent lifeboats and the crucial work we do!
Pett Slip Buoys performing at the White Rock Theatre
The Buoys were delighted to be invited to perform at the White Rock Theatre, Hastings, as part of the Let’s Sing Junior Choir Competition, hosted by Bexhill Rotary Club.
The Buoys had a 15-minute slot during the judges deliberations.
Such a great experience to be on a professional stage in front of an audience of over 600 people – who burst into rapturous applause and cheering after each song!
Pett Slip Buoys performing at the Two Sawyers
The British weather didn’t disappoint – starting out sunny and warm, but soon become overcast and drizzly.
We were the afternoon entertainment at the Two Sawyers pub in Pett Village – and despite the rain, it turned out to be a fantastic afternoon!
When the rain drove the crowd indoors, we decided to join them – and finished the set in the warmth and dry of the pub.
Pett Slip Buoys performing at the Nearly on the Beach Concert in Hastings
Brilliant to be invited to perform at the Nearly on the Beach Concert at the Stade in Hastings on 4 August!
A real stage with a proper sound system and performing in between professional bands!
We belted out a few number to the very appreciative audience. Fingers crossed we’ll be back next year!
Pett Slip Buoys performing at the Rural Past Times festival
On a hot day in a very hot marquee, the Buoys performed on the second day of the Rural Past Times festival. Its a fantastic rural event, with agricultural machinery, classic cars and loads of entertainment – a brilliant family day out.
Big thank you for inviting us, it’s always great to sing in front of a different audience and showcase our unique style!.
