How good to welcome in spring – lighter and longer days revive the soul and restore our energy. We’ve had a very productive winter season, both administratively and with training – and we are looking forward to a busy summer!
EGM and new structure
On Sunday 26 January we held an EGM with the single agenda item to elect our new Operational Management Team (OMT). We have worked hard to modernise our structure, training and maintenance regimes and operational procedures. Our management team consists of:
Chair: Steve Hill
Lifeboat Operations Manager: Jo Barry
Lifeboat Administrative Officer: Jo O’Hara
Training Manager: Darren Barry
Fundraising Manager: Russell Gilbert
Trustee Rep: John Brooker
General OMT: Adam Flower, Stuart Homewood
We are looking for a Finance Manager to join the team. If you or anyone you know might be interested, please email info@plirb.org.
Recruitment Month
March is Recruitment Month! We are always looking for new volunteers to strengthen and progress out team. We will be holding two Volunteer Recruitment Sessions – an opportunity for anyone interested in volunteering to meet the crew and learn more about getting involved.
Saturday 15 March and Saturday 22 March, 10am-1pm at the PLIRB Boathouse – pop in any time!
Joining the PLIRB family offers the chance to learn vital skills and gain qualifications, be part of an incredible team and give something back to your community. Whether boat crew, shore crew or part of our fundraising or organisation efforts – every volunteer becomes part of an essential community asset.
PLIRB Thanks
We continue to be incredibly thankful to everyone who supports us. In the last couple of months we have received generous donations from Kit and Jan McLean and Elm Tree Boot Sale, the Nearly on the Beach Concert, Combe Haven and Senlac St Leonards Rotary.
Every penny we receive helps fund our vital operations and projects. Thank you to everyone who has so kindly donated.
Crew News
Our team continues to grow and we have been delighted to welcome Georgia Phillimore, Kevin ‘Woody’ Wood and Tyler Moon to our team. All are progressing through their induction programme. We continue to be thrilled with the progress of our Duke of Edinburgh students who are not only completing their achievements, they are committed to training as part of our team.
Boathouse Development Fundraising Campaign
We are full steam ahead with our fundraising efforts to make crucial improvements to our boathouse. The development is essential to future proof our operations and provide flexible accommodation for our future rescue boat (which must be replaced in 2027).
We have HUGE target of £120,000 to raise in the next year. If you can help with fundraising activities, please do get in touch.
