Crew training and updates
We are delighted to welcome back Martin Geldart as a PLIRB crew member! Martin holds a VHF Radio licence and RYA Powerboat Level 2 and is a dedicated and experienced volunteer – great to have him with us to continue strengthen our talented team!
Six of our volunteers gave up yet another Saturday to take or renew their VHF Radio licence course – everyone successfully received their licences.
Thank you to all our committed team for giving so much time to ensure we are the best we can be.
On a shout
PLIRB was tasked three times in the last month – on two occasions to provide support in multi-agency incidents involving vulnerable people in the Hastings area. One of these included an early shout at 5.30am.
On Sunday 14 April we were tasked to a broken down fishing vessel in the Rye Bay area. We successfully placed the 9 metre catamaran under tow and returned them to their mooring at Rye Harbour.
We are on call 24/7. Our local crew base means we continue to respond to every shout, night or day.
And still out on the run!
Firstly, our volunteer Ant Dixson completed the Hastings Half Marathon and raised over £1,800. Then our wonderful supporter from Fairlight, Natasha Keats, completed the Brighton Marathon and has so far raised well over £2000 – an unbelievable amount for which we are incredibly grateful. Natasha only started her running journey a couple of years ago which makes this even more of a significant achievement!
A huge thank you to both – the contributions will go towards our boathouse extension and future new lifeboat!

Remembering Dr Adrian Head
On Thursday 11 April PLIRB volunteers joined friends and family to say goodbye and give respect and thanks to Adrian for an amazing life of service. A wonderful day celebrating a huge character in the community – our love goes to all the family.
PLIRB AGM 2024
The PLIRB AGM 2024 will take place on Sunday 12 May at the Pett Community Hall starting at 10:15am. Open to all to attend. The Chairman and Treasurer will provide their annual reports and officers will be elected.
Summer is coming, but beware..
A walk on the beach and under the cliffs at Pett Level is wonderful in any weather. But the recent heavy rain and strong winds have severely impacted the vulnerable cliff faces and we advise extreme caution when walking underneath. There have been many very visible cliff slips so please take extra care and ensure you let all visitors and guests know to be careful.
Thank you to everyone who supports us. To keep in touch, please visit our website https://plirb.com and our social media: Facebook @PettLevelRescueBoat and Instagram @pettlevelindyrescueboat.
